The food and service at this Subway is standard for the brand. It's not incredible but you wouldn't be going to Subway if you wanted incredible. The setup of this location is poor for people in wheelchairs. You can't walk two wide along the sandwich counter, so it's a bit of a squeeze to actually order.

The is the best subway. It's an odd layout but the staff easily makes up for it. They are the best; friendly, fast and know their product. I work near here so I come here a lot and have had a great experience every time! I seriously can't go to any other subway because they have raised the bar of my expectations that when I've tried to go to another one I'm so disappointed.
Downtown Palo Alto is such a difficult place to get such quality employees so whatever you are doing to find train and keep these wonderful people, keep doing it. -

First thing I notice is the extremely odd layout of this Subway. The door opens in, first of all, instead of pulling to open. The second thing, is there's only one door. And walkway. People entering the restaurant have to dance around customers that are leaving. And when the options are: cram inside, or deal with the masses of University plowing by (or through) you -- go inside!
The walkway then brings you initially to the end of the line, where you pay when you already have your sandwich. You then have to squeeze past everyone having their sandwich made to wait against the wall, in the corner, to order your bread. So. Weird.
The second thing, is that while each of the workers behind the counter are fairly friendly, they're not super attentive to detail. Depending on who is building your sandwich, it can vary whether you get 2 or 3 tomatoes, customers, or a fair amount of spinach. I don't enjoy inconsistency (as you might be able to tell) and it boggles my mind even more that it is at the same location that this occurs.
While it is *Subway*, I still do have expectations for them to get my order right, as well as be friendly/consistent.
